CRA VOLUNTEER TAX PREPARATION CLINICS - DARTMOUTH, N.S.

CRA COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX PROGRAM (CVITP)

The objective of the CVITP is to help eligible individuals who are not able to prepare their income tax and benefit returns by themselves.
It is intended to ensure that all taxpayers have equal access to the tax system.
The Program is a partnership between CRA and community organizations which host tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to prepare tax returns for eligible individuals.
CRA provides training, tax software and a network of CVITP coordinators across the country to help the community organizations and volunteers deliver the program.
The program assists eligible taxpayers who have low income and simple, non complex tax situations.
They do NOT prepare tax returns for complex situations such as;
returns for deceased persons,
individuals who file for bankruptcy'
self employed individuals'
individuals who report capital gains or losses; or
individuals who report employment expense, business or retail income and expenses.

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES

The Nova Scotia Government's Protocol Office offers a congratulatory message service from the Premier of Nova Scotia to Nova Scotians celebrating 65 + birthdays and 25 + anniversaries at 5 year intervals.  The Protocol Office will also, if requested, contact the following offices:

1.  The Queen (100th birthdays and 60th anniversaries only)
2.  Governor General of Canada (90 + birthdays and 50 + anniversaries)
3.  Prime Minister of Canada
4.  Lieutenant Governor (80 + birthday and 50 + anniversaries)
5.  Members of Parliament
6.  Members of the Legislative Assembly

Requests should be submitted at least six (6) weeks in advance of the celebration, with the exception of the Queen, who required eight (8) weeks' advance notice.  Her office also requires proof of age or marriage.
